Society for Risk Analysis 1995 Annual Meeting

Development, Implementation, and Evaluation of a Risk Analysis Training Seminar for Executives. J. Z. Temple and C. Musham, Medical University of South Carolina, 171 Ashley Avenue, Charleston, SC 29425

Executives are faced with complex challenges as they assume responsibility and liability to manage and communicate public, occupational and environmental health risks associated with exposures to toxic substances to diverse stakeholders. This program is designed to increase awareness and understanding of the risk analysis process and recognize commitment and support necessary to implement a responsible and responsive corporate policy. The Department of Environmental Health Science at the Medical University of South Carolina has developed an intensive four hour training program inclusive of didactic presentation, case studies and role-playing. This program has been tested at four sites. Preliminary evaluations show a significant increase in participants' awareness and knowledge. A longitudinal evaluation strategy is planned.
