Pesticide Concentration in the Environment at the Health Resorts in the South Part of Ukraine. N.P. Osokina, S.O. Mogilny, and T.G. Mogilnaja, Institute of Geological Sciences National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 55-B Chkalova St., Kiev, 252 054, Ukraine
Surface water of bays, canals and lakes, soils, underground waters
and so on samples from Skadovsk health resort zone (northern part
of the Ukrainian Black Sea coastal) have been examined to estimate
concentrations of organochloric (OCP): total DDT, total HCCH,
aldrin, heptachlor; organophosphoric (OPP): methaphos, carbophos,
phosphomide, phozalone; fluor-containing pesticides (FP): trephlane
in the environment.
Samples were analyzed with gas chromatographs "Tsvet-500
(Model 550, 570). Concentrations of pesticides in surface water
were as follows: OCP: 10-7 - 10-3
mg/l; OPP: 10-6 - 10-3 mg/l; FP:
10-8 - 10-5 mg/l.
In soils: OCP: 10-4 - 10-2 mg/kg;
OPP: 10-4 - 10-3 mg/kg; FP: 0
- 10-6 mg/kg.
In underground waters: OCP: 10-7 - 10-3
mg/l; OPP: 10-6 - 10-4 mg/l; FP:
10-8 - 10-6 mg/l.
The results included calculated actual pesticide loads (APL) on
a human body. The APLs for each individual pesticide did not
exceed the approved permissible standards. Pesticide acting on
a human body with drinking water in Skadovsk heart resort zone
not represent hight danger for health population.
