Demand for Risk Reduction. Lennart Sjöberg, Center for Risk Research, Stockholm School of Economics, Sweden
This paper presents results from
recently collected data on perceived radiation risk, in relation
to many other kinds of hazards. Particular interest is focused
on demand for risk reduction, which is related to several other
risk perception dimensions, since previous studies have shown
that demand for risk reduction is by no means perfectly related
to perceived level of risk. Demand for risk reduction is further
analyzed with regard to perceived responsibility for such reduction;
data are available on the responsibility of the government (national
or local) to carry through policies aiming at reduction. Results
are compared for five European countries: France, Norway, Spain,
Sweden and the UK.
