This article is based on the results of the sociological surveys which were carried out in the restricted areas of Belarus due to the Chernobyl accident. It deals with the problem of people's relocation from the radiation contaminated areas and their adaptation to the new places of residence. The author emphasises that this act is considered by the relocated people not less risky as their residence in the contaminated areas.
