Risk Assessment of Toxicant Responses in Children. R. E. Albert, Department of Environmental Health, University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Cincinnati, OH 45267
The special aspects of toxicant responses in childhood have never been dealt with adequately in the various guidelines for risk assessment. There is no doubt that such responses can differ in children and adults both in kind and in degree, for example with lead, methyl mercury and ionizing radiation. The purpose of this paper is to compare the nature and magnitude of such differences and the reasons for these differences with selected agents in a risk assessment context.
