The destruction of phenol in water medium presents vital theoretical and applied interest. The method of deep destruction of phenol in condition of electrochemical generation of active chlorine which we are elaborating is worth giving due attention among the existing methods of the purification of phenol water. Electrochemical generation of active chlorine, which consists of mixture of Cl2, HCIO and CIO, realizes by electrolysis of aqueous solutions of phenol containing chloride-ions.

By using the complex electrochemical methods in combination with other physic-chemical methods (titration method, gas-liquid chromatography, chromato-mass-spectrography) was established that in the condition of electrochemical generation of active chlorine the complete destruction of aromatic nucleus occurs. According to the scheme phenol --- chlorine-phenols --- di-chlorine-phenols--- 2,4,6-three-chlorine-phelols --- the products of destruction of aromatic nucleus.

The optimum conditions were established with the help of varying of concentration of chlorine, pH, current density, electrolysis time, electrode material and which facilitate to almost complete mineralization with formation of trace quantity of chloroform.

The analyses carried out as on the model solutions of phenol as on the natural sewage of number of factories. The results indicate on the effectiveness and perspectives of using our method for the purification of phenol containing sewage.

Nowadays an additional analyses of the level of risk assessment carry out. It was caused by possibility of formation dioxin structures in the process of chlorinating.
