CERA on the Anvil: Risk Assessment Systems for Risk Model Understanding. Y. Maeda, Shizuoka University, Japan; and T. Kageyama, Hitachi Information Systems, Ltd, Japan

Sanae Matsuzaki in National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Japan, developed an environmental risk assessment system CERA, Chemicals Environmental Risk Assessment, based on the concept of environmental risk assessment system USES developed in the Netherlands. CERA is an executable module for Windows that can do equivalent calculations to USES. Following the development of CERA, the development of four risk assessment systems named "CERA on the Anvil" series, namely, CERA on Mathematica, CERA logical, CERA site, and CERA Web, is advanced. The four systems are designed not only for estimating human health risks and ecological risks, but also for showing users inside of the risk assessment models, while CERA was designed only for the estimation of risks. This design aims to help users to understand the risk models. The alpha versions of CERA on Mathematica, CERA logical, and CERA site have already been completed. Currently CERA site, a distributed risk assessment system, is being designed.
