AAAS Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Fellowships.
Postdoctoral to mid-career scientists and engineers are invited to apply for the American Association for the Advancement of Science's Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Program, which offers risk professionals the opportunity to work for a year at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation, or the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Institute for Water Resources in Washington, D.C., providing scientific and technical input on issues relating to human health, economic, and environmental aspects of risk assessment or risk management. Science to Achieve Results (STAR) Fellowships for Graduate Environmental Study.
The Science to Achieve Results, or STAR, program of the National Center for Environmental Research, one of five research organizations comprising the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Research and Development,   funds research grants and graduate fellowships in numerous environmental science and engineering disciplines through a competitive solicitation process and independent peer review.   The program engages the nation’s best scientists and engineers in targeted research that complements EPA’s own intramural research program and those of their partners in other federal agencies. The STAR program invites research proposals from academic and non-profit institutions located in the U.S., and state and local governments during four formal solicitation periods -- January, April, August, and October. A listing of upcoming research topics is available at http://es.epa.gov/ncerqa/rfa/. (Updated October 2001.)
