SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Amikai, a real-time language translation solutions company, today announced the launch of its translated chat, e-mail, text and browse applications for consumers and businesses. Amikai is the first company in the world to offer all four real-time language translation applications -- each designed specifically for an unparalleled fast, accurate and easy end-user experience. Its proprietary technology is currently patent-pending.

"True global communications is defined as the ability to instantaneously communicate with anyone in any language from any location in the world," said Nicholas Lee, CEO of Amikai. "Without multi-language, real-time translation capabilities, such as those offered by Amikai, the barriers to global communications will not only remain, but will also continue to prevent individuals and companies from achieving their personal and global business goals."

Chat

With "AmiChat," Amikai offers instantaneous translation of messages with speakers of Japanese, French, German, Spanish, English, Italian, Portuguese, Korean and Chinese. For example, you may type a sentence in English. You will see the English message and its translation in all of the other languages that are associated with guests in the chat room. You can also have the option to view translations in any other languages of your choosing. Amikai is the only company in the world that enables users to view output in more than two languages simultaneously.

In addition, Amikai offers visual cues that make conversations easier to follow and shortcuts for entering special characters and accents, which are instrumental in accurate translation. Amikai is also the only translation provider to have an instant feedback mechanism. In order to improve translation quality, users can let each other know when a message was not understood. The Amikai linguistic team receives feedback about the words, sentences and phrases that do not translate well to allow it to continuously improve translation quality.

Text Translation

Amikai offers the most intuitive user interface of any translation application available today. "AmiText" currently supports translations in nine languages with more to be added in the near future.

E-mail

Amikai's "AmiMail" enables users to send translated e-mail in nine languages via the Amikai website or your own e-mail client. The actual translations can take less than one second, and both the sender and the recipient see both the original language message and the translated version. The translated message can be edited before sending or sent directly to the recipient.

Web Browser

Amikai's Web browser, "AmiWeb," is unique in that it not only shows the translated text, but also the original Web page text so that the user can see both simultaneously. Amikai is the only company to provide this important option. This capability is key as thoughts and phrases can often be misleading due to confusing word definitions and sentence structure, plus it helps a user practice his or her language skills.

Analysts estimate that the total number of non-English-speaking online users is 165 million. Non-English speakers are expected to make up two-thirds of the online world by 2005. According to IDC, two-thirds of all e-commerce spending will originate from outside the United States by the year 2003. These figures indicate a huge market opportunity for companies to sell to international markets via the Internet. (Source: Global Reach)

"The ability to communicate dynamically and eliminate today's global language barriers gives companies -- large and small -- a distinctive competitive advantage," said Tom Kosnik, a professor who teaches Global Entrepreneurial Marketing at Stanford University and sits on Amikai's advisory board. "I am telling the senior executives of companies I advise that they need Amikai to accelerate market value realization, reduce risks, and ultimately increase their market cap."

"Amikai enables accurate, real-time translation when a company negotiates with its customers and suppliers, which will save time and reduce risk of costly mistakes down the road. In addition, Amikai helps a company to educate and support its customers and channel partners. That will also reduce time, cost, and risk in delivering value to the marketplace. And, Amikai helps investors from around the world to get the information they need to buy the company's stock. That can double or triple the number of investors, which can increase the company's market cap. As a result, I believe that companies who use Amikai to power real-time, accurate translation can create billions of dollars in economic value. Amikai is the only solution on the market that is equipped to help companies realize that value today," said Kosnik.
