ORLANDO, Fla., March 26 /PRNewswire/
-- After nearly seven decades of service, the Home Office Life
Underwriters Association (HOLUA) and the Institute of Home Office
Underwriters (IHOU) announced today the formation of a single successor
organization. The Association of Home Office Underwriters (AHOU) will be
launched as of May 1.
With more than 1,200 members, HOLUA has served on individual membership
basis since 1930. IHOU was created in 1937 as a company membership
association. It currently has 471 member companies. AHOU membership will
be composed of individual underwriters and others associated with the
selection of individual life, health and/or living benefits risks. This
will also include medical directors, actuaries, agents, brokers, and
related professionals. The final annual meetings of both organizations will be held during
2001. HOLUA's "2001 An Underwriter's Odyssey" will be in
Orlando, FL, May 6-9 at the Orlando Renaissance Hotel. IHOU's "Where
Trends Are Born" will take place in Century City, CA, October 14-17
at the Westin Century Plaza Hotel. AHOU will hold its inaugural annual
meeting in Seattle, WA, November 9 -12, 2002. For more information, visit www.ontherisk.org. According to Brian Baxter, President of HOLUA, the new association will
promote education and professional development, which have long been goals
of HOLUA and IHOU. "The objectives of the new AHOU will be to advance knowledge of
individual risk classification and management, to promote professional
excellence and to encourage its members to act according to its Code of
Conduct," Baxter said. Home office underwriters participate in a rigorous and diverse
professional education curriculum of study leading to the designation
Fellow, Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU). In addition, many outlets for
continuing professional education exist, including an ALU Seminar Program
and a professional journal read in 55 countries -- ON THE RISK. The
Code of Conduct represents the professional standards to which all members
are committed in service to the insurance-buying public, to insurance
sales personnel and to the insurance companies and organizations which
employ them. For more information, visit www.ontherisk.org. SOURCE: Home Office Life Underwriters Association (HOLUA) WEB SITE: http://www.loma.org/ CO: Home Office Life Underwriters Association (HOLUA); Institute of
