1997 Annual Meeting. Planners of SRA-Europe's 1997 Annual Meeting, to be held June 15-18 in Stockholm, Sweden, will issue a second-announcement brochure soon and will also place a home page on the Internet. The meeting schedule currently includes a bus tour on Sunday, June 15, to the Forsmark nuclear power plant -- Sweden's final repository for radioactive operational waste since 1988; a reception Sunday evening at the City Hall, when the SRA-Europe Executive Committee will present the section's Distinguished Scientist Award; SRA-Europe's annual business meeting on Monday evening, June 16; and the annual meeting dinner on Tuesday evening, June 17.

"There is already quite a lot of interest shown for the annual meeting," says SRA-Europe Executive Committee member and Conference Director Britt-Marie Drottz Sj&oumlberg of the Stockholm School of Economics' Center for Risk Research, which is the host and principal organizer of the meeting. "The deadline for submitting abstracts is January 15."

The organizers, which also include Riskkollegiet, a Swedish Risk Academy, and the Royal Insitute for Technology's Center for Safety Research, are also asking business and industry to become sponsors of the annual meeting. "The more sponsors we can attract, the more possibility we will have to invite researchers from Eastern and Central Europe," said Drottz Sj&oumlberg.
