American Industrial Hygiene Association
Founded in 1939, this organization of professionals is dedicated to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of environmental factors arising in or from the workplace that may result in injury, illness, impairment, or affect the well-being of workers and members of the community. The association's web site is an essential source for information on occupational and environmental health and safety issues. AIHA's numerous committees, including the Risk Assessment Committee, plan, develop, and institute many of the association projects, including position statements, continuing education courses, publications, and technical and roundtable sessions presented at various conferences.  (Posted September 2000.)

American Risk and Insurance Association
Th is professional organization for insurance scholars and other insurance and risk management professionals also includes academics, individual insurance industry representatives, and institutional sponsors. Founded in 1932, the association emphasizes research, provides resources and information, and supports the improvement of academic instruction in the field of insurance and risk management. It publishes a journal and holds an annual meeting and an annual risk theory seminar.

Independent Insurance Agents of America, Inc.
As the nation’s oldest (established in 1896) and largest independent agent association, represents more than half of all the independent insurance agencies in the United States. This association for risk management was founded in 1950 and serves its member entities by proactively providing the highest quality products, services, and information to manage all forms of business risk.
