American Association for the Advancement of Science
This nonprofit professional society, founded in 1848, is dedicated to the advancement of scientific and technological excellence across all disciplines and to the public's understanding of science and technology. The society's Directorate for Science and Policy Programs includes the Science, Technology and Government Program, which manages public policy fellowships for scientists and engineers among its activities.

Federation of American Scientists
This organization conducts analysis and advocacy on science, technology and public policy, including national security, nuclear weapons, arms sales, biological hazards, secrecy, and space policy. FAS is a privately-funded non-profit policy organization whose Board of Sponsors includes 51 of America's Nobel laureates in the sciences. (Posted September 2000.)
