Table of Contents (Poster 2) TABLE OF CONTENTS This presentation is sponsored by SRA’s Risk Science and Law Specialty Group. One of the purposes of the Specialty Group is to bridge the gap between technically oriented risk analysts and the legal system, and one of our projects is to develop a sourcebook, with contributions from as many SRA members as possible, of important legal materials – including cases and commentary – for risk analysts. These posters begin the process of assembling the sourcebook by presenting a roadmap of the ways that courts use and evaluate risk analysis. The roadmap is a work in progress, and the present version lays out, so to speak, only the major routes and the major cities and landmarks. We hope that, even in this preliminary form, the roadmap will help non-lawyers to understand the context for risk analysis in the courts and the legal issues that the use of risk analysis raises. As a work in progress, however, we expect that future versions will add details to make the roadmap more and more useful to lawyers and non-lawyers alike.
